Making Pest Control Work Better

Got A Lot Of Flies Inside Your Home? 2 Tips To Get Them Out

If you are constantly seeing flies inside your home, they can quickly become a nuisance. They can get on food and just about anywhere they want. They may even fly into your refrigerator when you open the door. Fortunately, there are many things you can do to get the flies out, two of which are listed below.

Make a Fly Trap

The first thing you should try is to make a fly trap, which can be made from items you may already have in your home. One is using vinegar and liquid dish soap. Fill a bowl with a couple of inches of apple cider vinegar and add a tablespoon of regular sugar. Squirt some dish soap into the bowl. Fragrant dish soap works better, especially if it has a fruity scent. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and poke some holes in the wrap for the flies to get through. Place the dish in the room where you see most flies, which is likely the kitchen. Make more than one trap and place them in different areas of your home.

Another trap is using a two-liter soda bottle. Cut the top of the bottle off down to the top of the label. Flip the top over and place it back inside the bottle. This will make a funnel for the flies to fly into. Once they fly in, they have a hard time figuring out how to fly out. Pour some water to cover the bottom of the bottle and add a couple of tablespoons of sugar or you can squirt some honey in the water. Place the fly trap where you see the most flies. It may take a few days to kill all of them.

Contact Pest Control

If you continue to see flies in your home, it is time to contact a pest control company. The pest control contractor will find the breeding sites and eliminate them. This may be outside your home or in kitchen or bathroom drains or anywhere where there is moisture. Treatment may involve a variety of things. If flies are found in drains, drains must be cleaned thoroughly. The pest control company may use fly baits, pesticide spray, dusting powder, and electronic fly killers.

The pest control company will help you prevent flies from coming back. For example, eliminating breeding sites is a good first step. You also must keep your countertops wiped down and ensure no food is left out. Remove moisture from areas, such as built-up moisture outside, from leaky faucets, and more.

Flies can be difficult to completely remove but these tips should drastically cut down on the amount you see.
